The Black Sea Coast

The Black Sea Coast is located between the east coast of Bulgaria, the Romanian Black Sea Resorts and the European side of Turkey. The region has the highest tourism during the summer, meaning between May and October, attracting a large number of foreign tourists.

Slanchev Bryag or Sunny Beach is considered to be a major seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Throughout the year, Sunny Beach is home to a small population; during its high peak, it welcomes many tourists. Attractions which are available during the high peak season are the beach, water sports, the historic site of Nessebar, two water parks.

Varna, the third-largest city in Bulgaria, is located in the Gulf of Varna and is the center for business, transportation, education, tourism, entertainment, and healthcare. Additionally, the city is mentioned as the capital for marines in Bulgaria as well as the headquarters for the Bulgarian Navy. The most ancient gold treasure which belonged to the Varna culture was come upon in the Varna Necropolis dating back to 4200-4600 BC.

Burgas is another city on the Black Sea Coast and the fourth-largest city coming after Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna. It is located in the Burgas Province and the center for transport, culture, and tourism. Furthermore, Burgas is closed in by the Burgas Lakes; the Port of Burgas is the one of the grandest port in Bulgaria and the Burgas Airport is the second airport in the Country, in addition to Sofia Airport. The city is the center of the fishing and fish processing industry in Bulgaria.

Pomorie is a small city and a resort located southeast Bulgaria and is the administrative center of the Pomorie Municipality. In addition, Pomorie is an old city and nowadays is considered one of the most important destinations for tourists.

In the 1st Millennium BC, ancient tombs were built in Bulgaria and one of them is located in Pomorie. The tombs were made from stone while having a simple structure. The most surprising feature of the Pomorie Tomb is the powerful column located in the middle of the hall. It ascends to the dome and merges with it in a certain way that makes you believe you are located under a giant mushroom.
